American Cruise Lines provides an intimate and immersive experience.

American Cruise Lines has been exploring the U.S. for more than 50 years. Its all-inclusive small-ship cruises include voyages along the Lower Mississippi River, where you’ll be immersed in southern life. Discover the history of our nation, from the Civil War to the architecture of Antebellum homes; see how the culture, music, and people of today’s South continue to make history. You’ll sail on intimate modern riverboats, ideal for couples, friends and family traveling together, and even solo travelers. Choose your season to explore with eight-night departures to this special part of the country available almost year-round from February to December. Here is what you can expect to experience as you sail on the Lower Mississippi.

Itineraries either sail Memphis to New Orleans or New Orleans to Memphis with an included city hotel stay at the beginning of your cruise. American Cruise Lines also offers opportunities to add on additional hotel nights to experience more of the embarkation and disembarkation ports. In New Orleans, listen to jazz, eat gumbo, po-boys and beignets, and explore iconic sights such as Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. The National WWII Museum is another must-see. Memphis offers its own musical journey on Beale Street, where you can listen to the blues or jazz. Head off to Graceland, to get a glimpse of the home of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley.
Along the way, as you leisurely sail the Mississippi, you’ll visit Vicksburg, MS, an important part of the Civil War; the antebellum homes and the charming town of Natchez, MS; the small town of St. Francisville, LA, featuring the haunted Myrtles estate built in 1796; the Louisiana state capital Baton Rouge; Louisiana’s Oak Alley Plantation or Houmas House; and two days cruising along the river. Complimentary excursions led by local guides are offered at every stop, with more choices available for an additional fee.

American Cruise Lines has five ships—some with paddlewheels—sailing along the Lower Mississippi, accommodating no more than 180 guests. The ships boast all outward-facing accommodations including private balconies offered with most staterooms. For those traveling solo, single staterooms are available on all Lower Mississippi ships and they too can find accommodations with private balconies as an option.
American Cruise Lines’ immersive and personal experience features wonderful service from an all-American crew. An onboard historian and local experts provide insight about the Lower Mississippi and the cities, towns, people, and culture along the river. Daily enrichment programs can include informal lectures, entertainment, and onboard activities.

Your all-inclusive onboard experience includes a pre-cruise hotel stay and transportation to the ship, at least one complimentary featured shore excursion, enrichment, entertainment, meals, snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and nightly cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres and liquor. The all-American, locally-inspired menu offers meals prepared to order and served in an open-seated dining room where you can enjoy panoramic views of the passing scenery. Port charges and fees as well as tips and gratuities are part of the all-inclusive rate allowing you to sail stress-free.
