Come and say G’day to Australia’s ultimate wellness escapes.
Australians know how to embrace wellness as the country offers an abundance of sunshine, natural wonders, spas, yoga classes, and more. Travelers can dip their toes into Australian wellness while visiting the massive island nation. These are some of the best wellness experiences to be had across Australia’s territories in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and beyond, from traditional Aboriginal healing methods to the soothing waters of thermal mineral pools.

Nature’s Embrace
Submerge yourself in Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest, the world’s oldest rainforest. Walk beneath the biodiverse canopy or enjoy a spa treatment using ancestral holistic therapies. Head to the World Heritage-listed Scenic Rim of Tamborine Mountain and hike through the rainforest to soak in the mist of waterfalls.
While visiting the iconic Byron Bay in New South Wales, head out for a stroll on the Lighthouse Walk to take in the fresh sea salt air and enjoy the vistas along the coastal trail. Visit the World-Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and enjoy the eucalyptus forest, a treat for the senses.
Wine and wellness go hand-in-hand in Western Australia at Margaret River. Your time here will be filled with visits to vineyards, beach days on the coast, yoga classes, spa treatments, and organic farm-to-table meals.
While visiting the island state of Tasmania challenge yourself to the Cradle Mountain Signature Walk. Over the six-day, 40-mile walk you’ll traverse from Waldheim in Cradle Valley to Lake St Clair through various landscapes – like rainforests and grass button plans – to reach incredible views.

Down Under Bliss
In the Northern Territory, go for a float surrounded by palm trees at the Mataranka natural thermal pools. The crystal-clear mineral water is believed to have healing properties for the skin and is warm year-round.
Victoria, Australia’s Garden State has an incredible backdrop for relaxation and rejuvenation. To enjoy nutrient-rich natural mineral springs visit the Mornington Peninsula or Daylesford in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Daylesford is nicknamed Victoria’s spa country—book a spa treatment, stay at a wellness retreat, and enjoy the flora at botanical gardens.
One of the best spa destinations in the country is Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Spend your mornings exploring epic rock formations before the afternoon at a day spa or book a retreat to ground yourself in wellness.

Sacred Sojourns
Visit the World Heritage Site of Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. While hiking in the second-largest national park in Australia be on the lookout for Aboriginal rock art. Within the park, you may come across spectacular wildlife including crocodiles and azure kingfishers. Enjoy the healing benefits of sitting in front of the Jim Jim or Twin Falls cascades.
A wellness visit to the Northern Territory isn’t complete without a visit to Uluru. The formation surrounded by the red sands of the Outback is a holy site to the Anangu people. Many say it’s a spiritually enriching destination. Catch a sunset in the desert and visit one of the local spas offering treatments derived from native bush botanicals.
In Western Australia, go for a seemingly endless beach walk along the stunning Eighty Mile Beach to enjoy the aquamarine Indian Ocean, bird watching, and dolphins playing in the waves. The beach is known as “Wender” which means “creaky noise” by the Karajarri people, referring to the sound it makes when your feet stroll across the white sand.
Over half of the Australia Capital Territory is taken up by Namadgi National Park. This area has been occupied by Aboriginal peoples for at least 21,000 years and is packed with important historical sites to visit including the “Yankee Hat” rock art site.
