Every year balloon fanatics gather at the International Balloon Fiesta in October for nine days. Hundreds of balloons from around the globe fly daily during the Mass Ascension including those with unordinary shapes such as a pig, cow, Yoda, and more. Book the hot air balloon ride of a lifetime and be surrounded by hundreds of other balloons in the air which is quite unique. ​​The Balloon Glow is held at night when balloons ignite their burners, lighting up the night sky.

While visiting Mexico City don’t miss the chance to rise with the sun over the ancient Sun and Moon Pyramids at Teotihuacán. Flying above the massive pyramids puts into perspective the enormity of the UNESCO Heritage Site which was one of the largest cities in Mesoamerica with at least 25,000 inhabitants in the 7th century AD. Most tour operators include guided visits to the City of the Gods after the flight for an additional fee.

As the sun rises over the Nile River take in breathtaking views of the sprawling Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt from a hot air balloon. While it’s a must to enter some of the ancient burial sites, it’s extraordinary to see them from above. Queen Hatshepsut was forbidden to be buried in the Valley due to her gender so she built her tomb on the backside of the Valley.

Drift gracefully over the otherworldly natural mushroom-like structures in the valleys of Göreme. The experience is a feast for the eyes as you pass by the rock formations known as Fairy Chimneys in Monks Valley, Love Valley, and Pigeon Valley which are all made up of various sandstone structures. Keep an eye out for the pinnacles that were carved out to make cave homes.

Take to the skies for a thrilling safari soaring over herds of wildlife. While flying on a hot air balloon in Akagera National Park you may have the chance to spot all of Africa’s Big Five including elephants, buffalos, rhinos, leopards, and lions. Inquire in advance about how low the hot air balloon hovers—if the balloon goes too low it can be distressing to wildlife.

Take off with the sunrise and soar above the picturesque landscapes surrounding Mesa, Arizona. You’ll have a stunning 360° view as the sun rises and bounces light off of the surrounding mountains. You’ll reach up to 5,000 feet in the air as you take in views of the Sonoran Desert landscape with giant saguaros. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as jackrabbits, quail, and coyotes.
