Change the way you see the world.

On an HX expedition, you get an up-close immersive look into Alaska and British Columbia’s beauty and culture with experts guiding you to better understand and discover the people, places, and wildlife of this magnificent region. These transformative sailings thoughtfully combine science, education, and conservation as you travel sustainably in hybrid-powered ships designed with comfort in mind and quieter navigation and lower fuel consumption.

Explore Alaska Differently
When you sail with HX in Alaska, you get to see more of its striking nature and fascinating cultures and communities. Cruise itineraries take you through Southeast and Southcentral Alaska to Southwest Alaska and the Aleutian Islands on small expedition boats. You have a chance to see seals, whales, bears, an array of bird species, and other wildlife along the coast, and stop in remote areas for land-based exploration. Dive into the past of the Gold Rush in fishing villages and abandoned towns, while discovering the Łingít people who lived in Sitka more than 10,000 years ago.
HX Expeditions launched two new Alaska itineraries for 2026 with inaugural calls in Klawock and Valdez and 11 new excursions. You can discover more about Alaska Native communities, living cultures and ecosystems, as well as taste the foods and view the wildlife of the region, and hike or kayak through its varied landscapes.

Experts in Expeditions Made for Curious Travelers
HX has been experts in expedition since 1896. They offer Alaska’s most comprehensive Science Center and guest learning program. Handpicked experts from around the world and from a range of fields like marine and wildlife biologists and glaciologists are your discovery leaders on shore and on board as you set off on hikes, small boat trips, remote region exploration, and stops at local communities.
“An H X expedition is an immersive learning experience for those with the curiosity to truly understand the lands they are visiting.”
An HX expedition is an immersive learning experience for those with the curiosity to truly understand the lands they are visiting. Through the experts and time at the Science Center, you can discover details on Alaska’s diverse landscapes, plants, and wildlife. You have access to advanced microscopes to analyze samples collected earlier in the field. It is also where lecture spaces, a small library, and specialty areas are set up for workshops in photography, biology, and more. You just don’t listen to facts and fascinating stories, you also have opportunities to support real-time research and collect valuable data that can contribute to the conservation and understanding of our planet.

Active Adventure is All-Inclusive
Planning and costs are included as part of your HX expedition so that once you are on board you can focus on full immersion in the region you are exploring. That means you pay one single price for shore landings, expert-guided excursions and lectures, as well as onboard dining and drinks, Wi-Fi, and gratuities. Fine dining at Lindstrøm and certain premium excursions are available for an extra fee. You even get a complimentary expedition jacket, backpack, or another piece of HX exploration kit, and a water bottle to take home. A digital album of photos taken by an onboard professional photographer is sent after you return home as part of your HX logbook and memories of a lifetime.
