Explora Travesia Atacama-Uyuni
Calle s/n
Uyuni
Bolivia
From the deep silence of the terracotta mountains in the Atacama Desert to the endless white of the Uyuni Salt Flat: unravel two of the world’s most fascinating locations in the journey of a lifetime, traveling across one of the remotest regions on Earth with our itineraries from 7 to 11 nights.
La Travesía is an all-inclusive private journey, for 2 to 8 people, that crosses from the Atacama desert in Chile to the salt flats of Uyuni in Bolivia (or vice versa), in a 4×4 vehicle, together with an Explora guide and local driver.
Our lodge in Atacama, along with our mountain lodges, Ramaditas and Chituca, and Uyuni Lodge in Bolivia –established in partnership with local families– serve as bases to explore, day after day, the unique landscapes and wonders of the Altiplano.

Number of Rooms: 4 Lodges
Lodge 1: Explora Atacama
Designed to take full advantage of the silence, privacy, and spaciousness of the surrounding landscape, ensuring deep rest after a long day of exploration. Our 50-room lodge is built for linking man to temporary space- present and past- and the mysteries of nature. Explora is located in the Ayllu de Larache (initially a kin-based community of the ancient Aymara people), near the village of San Pedro de Atacama. The 17-hectare (42-acre) grounds comprise 20 indigenous parcels, some with timeworn pathways and buildings that Explora is committed to preserving out of a profound respect for the area’s original inhabitants. Rooms look out to the Atacama Desert and views to the Licancábur volcano. Located on the grounds of Explora there is a spa for massage treatments, 4 outdoor swimming pools, outdoor hot tubs, sauna, horse stables and an observatory for nightly star-gazing programs.
Lodge 2: Explora Ramaditas
OUR LODGES
The journeys always connects to your lodging through private trips to the Explora lodges in Atacama, Chile, with Explora in Uyuni, Bolivia, passing by our Mountain Lodges in Ramaditas and Chituca.
Our accommodations are designed so that travellers can take advantage of the silence and nature that surrounds them, being the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The architecture of the Uyuni Lodge and our Mountain Lodges has been planned to reduce the interference with the natural surrounding as much as possible and to highlight the landscapes that host each construction.
ARCHITECTURE
These constructions were designed by the Chilean architect Max Núñez, whose objective was to build a light place, small in size and low in height, to raise awareness of the territory and generate the minimum impact. For this reason, they were assembled in a 100% prefabricated and modular way.
Their composition allows them to be “reversible” constructions, that is to say that in the future they will be easy to dismantle and transport to be reused in other places.
The lodge and Mountain Lodges are composed of different modules of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms and toilets, which are assembled to form different configurations depending on the site and its requirements.
