Set Sail with a Trafalgar Twist

The tour brand you know and love is now on the water, making it easier than ever to explore Europe by ship.

For decades, Trafalgar has delivered immersive guided journeys across Europe on land, connecting travelers with the people, traditions, and stories behind each destination. As of April 2026, they’ve launched their own river cruises as well, taking their expertise from the shore to the water. Sail the Rhine to stop at medieval castles and picturesque Riesling vineyards, or opt for the Danube, where the best of Central Europe has a chance to shine.

To make things even better, these river cruises allow Trafalgar guests to seamlessly experience multi-dimensional journeys, ones that combine both land and river. Dive deeper into your embarkation or disembarkation ports to make your getaways last just a little longer.

Choose Your River

Trafalgar’s debut itineraries explore two of Europe’s most iconic rivers, the Rhine and Danube, making it easier than ever to sail through the Netherlands and Germany, Austria and Slovakia. During the holidays, these cruises become even more special with seasonal Christmas Market sailings to iconic markets in cities like Strasbourg, Cologne, Vienna, and Budapest.

But the endeavor isn’t stopping there. By 2027, the Seine will have its fair share of Trafalgar voyages meandering down its banks. Stop in lovely French towns and cities, like Normandy, Rouen, Giverny, and of course Paris.

Time in Port

Your time in each port can be curated in a way that feels perfect for you. Opt to explore on your own, or choose from a few different ship-curated excursions. If the latter is more your style, you won’t be disappointed. Trafalgar’s tours are led by local specialists who know their regions inside and out, sharing stories and historical facts, pointing out iconic landmarks and hidden local gems, all along the way.

Each river cruise itinerary also comes with a couple of tailored, categorized excursions. First, there are the MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences, ones that focus on environmental, cultural, or social initiatives in the local community. Visit a family-owned artisanal vinegar maker in Germany, or dive deep into Cold War history in Slovakia, for example. There are also the signature “Be My Guest” excursions, where cruisers are welcomed into local homes, whether that’s a charming little cidery in Normandy, France or a family farm in Breisach, Germany.

Unwind Onboard

With the capacity for just over 120 guests on each vessel, the onboard experience on Trafalgar’s ships is as peaceful as it gets. Spend your time aboard unwinding as you see fit—whether that’s by joining a yoga class on the deck, listening to live music in one of the lounges, or indulging in the decadent sweets crafted by the onboard pastry chefs.

Extend the Journey

Not quite ready to end your vacation? Trafalgar’s land extensions allow travelers to combine their river cruise with guided land journeys in key cities along the route. Spend an extra day or two in some of your favorite cities, such as Amsterdam, Lucerne, and Prague, exploring them to the fullest by both land and water.
