2024 is the perfect time to visit The Nordics and travel to Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands. Across the region, there are many new and exciting things happening in the various countries from hotel openings, new museums, debut ferry routes, historic anniversaries, and more. Here’s what’s new in the Nordics in 2024.
In 2024 Copenhagen can welcome visitors to their newest, yet oldest neighborhood; The Carlsberg City. The Carlsberg City District is a unique neighborhood, deeply rooted in the history of the Copenhagen-founded brewery Carlsberg, dating back to 1847. The Carlsberg Breweries had a distinct entrance with two beautiful elephants welcoming people into the brewery area. In 2024 visitors can enjoy restaurants, creative public areas, hotels, and bars.

Finland’s largest hotel complex operated by Nordic Choice Hotels will open in 2024 in the heart of the renewed Helsinki Airport, next to Terminal 2. The hotel complex will have two hotel brands with a combined 700+ guest rooms, conference facilities, five restaurants, a rooftop sky bar, a spa, and a gym. Sustainability is key across the Nordics and the hotel operators are requesting LEED Gold Certification. The Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4 at Helsinki’s Katajanokka will also open in 2024.

Passengers can select from newly introduced comfortable suites and private cabins, or, do as the locals and sleep in open sleeping berths known as couchettes.

The property is being built to suspend above the Holandsfjorden Fjord utilizing poles in order to minimize the negative impact on the glacial environment. The off-grid, carbon-neutral, and energy-positive hotel will be equipped with 94 guest rooms, an Alchemy Bar, an Earth Lab, a Svart Design Lab, and a zero-waste restaurant and bar that will serve fresh local produce.

2024 marks 80 years since the decriminalization of homosexuality in Sweden and marks 15 years of full equal marriage. The country’s capital, Stockholm, will celebrate with Stockholm Pride, the Nordics’ largest Pride celebration. There will be queer events year-round in the “open city” at the many Stockholm LGBT establishments including hotels, restaurants, and attractions, and by other partners committed to upholding Stockholm’s reputation as one of the world’s most diverse and inclusive cities.

The hotel will have 85 guest rooms, a restaurant, bar, and orangery for those looking to escape the everyday hustle and bustle.
