Embark on an adventure to Slovenia’s most beautiful landscapes – from snow-capped mountains to Mediterranean beaches.

Located in the heart of Europe, Slovenia is an absolute dream for nature lovers. You can hike up mountains, sail around lakes, suntan on beaches, and even dive into underground caves. It’s a natural playground, just waiting for you.

If there’s one nature spot that you simply have to visit during your time in Slovenia, it’s Triglav National Park. This national park is home to sparkling lakes, cascading waterfalls, thriving forests, and endemic wildlife. But the most beloved part of the park is the Julian Alps. These snow-capped mountain peaks are home to some epic hiking trails and jaw-dropping views. You can even trek to the top of Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia!

Lake Bled is arguably Slovenia’s most famous landmark – and for good reason. Between the crystal-clear lake, the surrounding snow-capped Alps, and the charming Bled Castle at the center of it all, this landscape looks like it was plucked out of a fairytale. So why not go for a stroll around the lake or even take a rowboat out to the magical castle?

While Slovenia’s mountains, lakes, and rivers are incredible, there’s a whole other natural playground below the surface. There are over 13,000 karst caves in the country, although only 20 of them are open to the public. Of those 20, three consistently top the list: the massive Postojna Cave, the UNESCO-awarded Škocjan Caves, and the historic Vilencia Cave.

You might be surprised to find out that Slovenia has a little 29-mile sliver of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea. Dotted with medieval cities, including Piran, Koper, and Izola, this region is a fantastic place to spend some time in the water. Dive into sea caves, fish, or go for a refreshing swim.

Between all of the hiking and swimming, you’ll still need to sleep and eat! But Slovenia has found a way to make your accommodation and dining experiences nature-filled as well, thanks to its farm-to-table tourist farms. Dine on locally grown specialties at Pr’ Končovc Open Door Farm in Kranj, say hello to the deer at Jelenov Greben Guest House in Podčetrtek, and eat the freshest sea bass around at the Fonda Fish Farm in Lucija.

On top of all that, many of these tourist farms have been awarded the Slovenia Green Label, a coveted award given only to the most sustainable businesses in the country. And these farms’ and businesses’ sustainable practices make Slovenia one of the most sustainable destinations in the world.

Why not pair your Slovenian-grown meal with a glass of Slovenian wine? Brda is one of Slovenia’s up-and-coming wine regions, and with its vineyard-covered hills, it looks just like Napa and Tuscany. If there’s just one type of wine that you need to try in Brda, it’s rebula. This fruity white wine is made from grapes of the same name that are native to this region of the world. In other words, you’d be hard-pressed to find better rebula anywhere else.
